My husband bought this on his Amazon account, so it was a Verified Purchase. At first, I loved this rack, it folded opened so easily and snapped together quickly. It stored flat enough to fit neatly in the gap beside our washer. I would've given this thing 5 stars if it lasted.

Over the course of 1 year, we've draped various things on this rack such as a small wool blanket, a winter coat with gloves, bath mats and light

I'm not a Vine Voice (though would love to be considering how detailed my reviews are) but reviews are what online buying is all about and I rely on them heavily, so contribute back. This rack was just delivered and I already have it set up and in use. I can tell it's going to be outstanding. I'll revise this if I'm wrong but hands down, best one I've seen from ALL aspects, as follows: Coated metal is much like curtain rods--baked on, not just painted. Nothing to snag delicate fabrics on (Yay!). Joints are all sturdy-fit and smooth moving. Unit locks into place with swing-top's notch-down and notches are GOOD ones with secure snap-in. Easy fold-out/collapse and it definitely stands independently when collapsed (another peeve solved). I'm very surprised at the quality for the price frankly. It's quite tall so things on hangers will not drag on the floor and given its height, it's as stable as it possibly could be, and much more so than shorter ones I've seen. I couldn't be happier! I air-dry long sleeve shirts (can be draped across) as well as unspun fiber/roving that I hand dye plus skeined yarns. This little sweetheart is everything I hoped for and more than I dared beyond that. I had never heard of

When they say lightweight they aren't kidding. So light weight that the least amount of downward force has the criss cross pieces bending and folding toward the ground. Any more than about 5 to 10 pounds and it begins to collapse. I was hoping to drape floor rugs (one at a time) over it to make for easier cleaning and drying. But it won't even support 4 pairs of wet blue jeans without bending. No way I'll be able to drape a 10 or 15 pound wet rug over it.

While it may be fine for light weight wet objects, it won't hold up enough clothes to even do a laundry load. I can get about a maximum of 4 damp bath towels on this before it begins to bend. That's it's main use for me now as I can't rely on it for anything heavier. They claim it's steel but I don't think so. It sure acts like thin aluminum to me.

I struggled as to giving it two or three stars. But finally decided maybe some people with light weight items could use it. I need a rack that will support 25 pounds of wet laundry not this one which might hold about 5 to 10 pounds before the uprights start to bend.

This design is much improved over a previous (more plasticky) generation of design. My complaint with that design was that the top rack didn't have a positive latching mechanism to lock in to place; any time you barely kicked the bottom or nudged it, it would collapse. This has a positive latching mechanism so it is rigid when it's locked in. In other words, it's stable. Only minor complaint is that the bars are a touch shorter than I'd like but that's a matter of personal preference. If you're like me and don't like drying clothes all the way in the dryer and you also live in a small apartment/condominium unit, this is perfect for you. Wait...a matching set is perfect for you.

This initially worked so well I purchased a second one. Within a year both became wobbly and bars occasionally fell off requiring frequent screw adjustments. One has become unusable within two years. I had initially hoped this would be more durable than the Whitmore version I had purchased in the past, but, alas, not the case., These two products are essentially equivalent in my mind. Both required frequent reattachment of struts that fall off. I'm currently in search of a more solid, durable rack.

I purchased this on a day that it happened to be on sale so it was a great price at under $20. I liked it immediately after using is so even ordered a second one! I've now been using it once a week for a few months (less than 6) and in that time several of the bars across have come loose/separated from the rack itself. I am able to place them back in but it can be frustrating when trying to set up both racks on my own and hang up all my laundry - I have more important things to do as a mom!!! The bars are coated with a textured plastic of some sort which is nice because it keeps the clothing from slipping off and is not bare metal (I've had one in the past that was uncovered metal and over time it rusted and that rust would transfer onto my clothing! This has only happened to one of my two racks so maybe one of them was just faulty. Overall, Id recommend these but wished that the faulty one had started coming apart within the return time frame. Again, still works but is annoying!
